shadow consulting

a director of a national public services company requested support with an organisation wide change project she had been asked to lead.

an initial meeting helped the client decide that the most appropriate form of support was shadow consulting.
the shadow consultant’s role was to supportively challenge the client’s thinking and help expand her knowledge and ability to effectively and confidently lead the change.

one-on-one sessions focused on enabling the client to develop an inclusive change strategy. This individual support included helping the client explore and develop stakeholder engagement methods to encourage company-wide awareness and ownership at each stage of the change initiative.

an action learning approach to this shadow consulting assignment helped the client reflect upon and learn from each step of the change which informed the planning of subsequent interventions.

this shadow consulting assignment:

  • expanded the client’s knowledge
  • broadened her skill set
  • built her self-confidence in her ability to lead change
